Are you ready for a new school year?
Just in a few days we will see our students after summer break. We're all very happy (hopefully) as we've got some fresh ideas for our lessons, so much energy and so many plans for the coming year. But at some poins we get scared about that stress, being overloaded with tasks, phonecalls from parents and so many other depressing things. And everything doubles if you're a teacher and a mom of teenage kids at the same time)
I did some research for myself of
how to make first days of school year less stressful...
I hope you can use the ideas too.
- plan everything ahead (make lists of tasks for the day, week, month)
- don't be afraid to ask for help (all is done well when done with a partner)
- plan everything ahead (make lists of tasks for the day, week, month)
- don't be afraid to ask for help (all is done well when done with a partner)
- don't forget - weekends are for the family and relaxation
- the most important - remember - YOU LOVE YOUR JOB
below you'll find some other ideas

On March 17, millions of people across the United
States celebrate in the Irish tradition known as St. Patrick's Day. The holiday
has been around for hundreds of years, and while the history of the holiday may
be less of the focus today, it is still an important element. Understanding the
history of St. Patrick's day can help a child appreciate it more and see why
this holiday is still celebrated today through parades, colors and meals. Modern
interpretations of the holiday feature the color green, shamrocks, leprechauns
and pots of gold at the end of rainbows. To celebrate this day with children,
have them dress in green clothes, play fun games and sing silly songs.
St. Patrick
·
The holiday is named after a religious figure who
actually was never born in Ireland. At a young age, St. Patrick was kidnapped
by pirates and forced into Ireland. He escaped his job as a slave and lived on
the rich, green Ireland shores. He later left Ireland, became religious and
returned to spread the faith of Christianity. He lived there for 30 more years,
where he spread knowledge and writing through the Irish people. March 17 is the
day he was rumored to die, and that was chosen as the official St. Patrick's
Day.

Today is one of the most pleasant holidays -
March, 8 is women's holiday, a holiday of spring and attention to the woman.
The 8th of March is a great official holiday for all women. It began in 1909 by women in New York streets who asked for better working conditions. Women’s Day is not celebrated in Great Britain. The British celebrate another wonderful holiday in spring. It’s called Mother’s Day.
The International Women’s Day is one of the most favourite holidays among Russian women because there is a nice tradition to congratulate and give bunches of spring flowers and presents to our mothers, grandmothers, sisters and all women on this day. In the morning men go to the shops to buy flowers and sweets. They also help to do the housework and cook something delicious for dinner. Children help their mums to lay the table and wash up. All members of the family are well dressed.
The 8th of March is the day when women are happy and they smile and thank their families because they can take a break and relax and forget about their everyday routine, about cooking and looking after their families.

System of education in Great Britain
Here are some videos which I found very useful for my lessons of Countrystudy. This week we speak about System of education in England and I thought that it would be more interesting for students to watch a video than to read a plain text.
Thanks to British Council for great videos!

Winter Projects with kids (part 2)
Making a poster for the parents.
Christmas is coming. So little time left for the preparations. But we've got a little more than a week for creating and crafting!
I always try to do something fun and creative with my students before winter holidays. And they've started to ask me if we are going to do something special this year.
Last year with students of the 5th and 6th classes we were making Christmas cards for the parents, and the youngest students prepared a poster for their moms and dads.
Here what we had

O.Henry The Gift of the Magi
Here's another literature story which my students like to discuss. There are so many serious points to dwell on: love, devotion, secrifice, support, happiness. I thought you'd enjoy this story. Especially if to read it in this time of the year with Christmas coming up.

Готуємось до ЗНО, читання
- Read the text quickly in order to get the general understanding of the text. Don't worry about the meaning of every word. You don't have to understand every word in the text, only those which help you to do the task.
- read the sentences that you need to say True/ False
- Find the parts of the text where the information comes. Read them again in more detail.
- If there is no information to say if the sentence is true, mark the sentence false.
- Never leave answers blank in an exam

Writing an Essay
1. Answer the Question.
This is the first and most important suggestion. Answering the wrong question is a common mistake made by students. Unfortunately, it can be a real disaster for the grade you get in an exam. Make sure you understand what the examiner wants; it is highly advisable to refer back to the question throughout the answer. This point may sound like stating the obvious; but, in my experience, answering the wrong question is the biggest cause of a disappointing exam result.

Poetry for Kids
Here I've chosen some poems for you to use at the lessons. They are easy and fun. Don't forget to use some moves - your students will love them!
Two little hands
Two little hands go clap, clap, clap
Two little feet go tap,tap,tap
Two little eyes are open wide,
One little head goes side to side.

Winter
Winter
Activities and Vocabulary
Finally
winter came. And even the first snow has pleased our eyes. So get ready to
discuss winter and everything connected to it with your students.
Hello December
Today is the first day of December. Let's look at this month from some unusual points. I hope you'll like this information.
December was the tenth month in the Roman calendar before the addition of July and August. The Anglo-Saxons called this month ‘Haligmonath’ (Holy Month) or ‘Wintermonath’. Above all we now associate December with the Christian festival of Christmas which celebrates the birth of Christ. This Christian celebration gradually took the place of the ancient pagan festival of ‘Yuletide’ when holly, ivy, spruce, mistletoe and yule logs were used in the celebrations. Many of these traditions became associated with Christmas and have persisted until the present day.

She walks in beauty
At the lessons of literature we learn lots about English and American writers and their works. Most of my students enjoy this lyrical poem.
She Walks in Beauty
(Lord Byron)
She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.
One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.
And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!
This is one of my most favourite poems ever!!!!
